Iran’s parliament approves nuclear deal with world powers
Discussion of the bill in the parliament had been unusually tense, with hard-liners repeatedly trying to prevent a vote on the deal.

The Guardians Council, which ensures legislation does not violate Iran’s constitution and Islamic rules, approved on Wednesday a Tuesday parliamentary vote that endorsed the deal curbing Iran’s atomic programme in exchange for an end to sanctions.
“Some council ‘members raised objections to the bill and found it contrary to the constitution”.
The Iran nuclear deal wary Republicans in Congress were unable to block… It allows Iran to withdraw from the agreement if world powers do not lift sanctions, impose new sanctions or restore previous ones.
The bill requires the Iranian government to work toward the nuclear disarmament of Israel, which has the region’s sole, if undeclared, nuclear arsenal. “Then, the representatives will announce publicly that all parties involved in the negotiations have done everything that needed to be done in their respective countries as stated in the JCPOA, and experts from all the parties will start to define one by one what steps from each side should take place”, said Mojtaba Khosrowtaj, first deputy minister in charge of trade at the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, in an exclusive interview with GTR today.
The deal, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, is an agreement met in July by six world powers and Iran that would limit the country’s nuclear development in return for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions.
In the session carried live by state radio, 161 lawmakers on hand voted for the nuclear deal, while 59 voted against it and 13 abstained.
Despite the victory, Rouhani and his allies face challenges. Before the announcement of the council’s decision, state television aired footage of a Guard underground missile base, saying it was one of hundreds around the country. Iran’s Central Bank said inflation went from a monthly rate of 45.1 percent when Rouhani was elected in June 2013 to around 15.5 percent. “We have so many bases that (our enemies) can not confront those bases, no matter how many bases they identify”.

“Sanctions [on Iran] will be lifted and we will see the effects of this on our economy”, Rouhani told Iran’s IRIB’1 TV during a live interview on Tuesday.
