Both King Salman and Vladmir Putin expressed concern over the Syrian crisis.
But no date or guest list has been confirmed for the talks, and the US State Department admitted on Monday (local time) that the situation was complex and that talks may drag on.

The council said that this new exodus is pressuring already overcrowded and overstretched camps in the country. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said in a statement.
More than 250,000 Syrians have been killed and a million injured.
Russian Federation began conducting airstrikes in Syria on September 30, saying it aims to help the government defeat the ISIL group and other “terrorists”. Iran has backed Assad’s government throughout the conflict, fighting alongside the Syrian military, and is seen by Western-backed rebels and USA partners in the region as a major source of the bloodshed. There he gave President Vladimir Putin credit for outmanoeuvring the United States and said Russian Federation was now in a position to demand attention and respect. “But there will be no solution if you don’t also engage Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia”.
The group urged Moscow to stop bombing rebels, civilians and withdraw its support for President Bashar al-Assad.
The special forces, akin to a Delta Force, had been operating in pro-Russian rebels-held areas of Ukraine before being called off to Syria, a Russian official told the Wall Street Journal.
In a sign of possible discord with his Russian allies, Assad’s office issued a statement Tuesday reiterating that he will not consider any political initiatives “until after eradicating terrorism”. “The people of Syria will make the final decision and whatever decision they take, we will endorse”.
Their main target may be ISIS, but by using this opportunity they will destroy all of our revolutionary powers, including the Free Syrian Army. It does not operate with a centralized command structure.
To that end, Iran does not have a pressing stake in the territorial integrity of Syria. This is likely to increase IRGC military interventions in the Middle East in the future and suggests that more Iranian forces could be deployed in Syria.

The opposition forces are being targeted, as the reports suggest… The West has failed to adequately stand by the Syrian people, leaving the space open for the Russian Bear to step in and fill the vacuum.
