Iran Unveils Advanced Military Equipment, Missile Systems in Parades

During a military parade in Tehran, military hardware including missiles was displayed in the capital.

According to the agency, the Iranian president spoke with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in NY.

Baqeri also said a new security agreement between the United States and Israel “will make us more determined in strengthening the defense power of the country”.

More than 500 watercraft as well as fighter jets and helicopters took part in the large-scale military parade in Bandar Abbas, which was held under supervision of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy.

As for Tehran-Ankara relations, he said Iran “will always stand by its friendly and brotherly country of Turkey”, IRNA news agency reported.

Shahrivar 31 (according to the Iranian calendar year) marks anniversary of the Iraqi Ba’ath regime’s invasion on Iran in 1980 which was the beginning of an eight-year imposed war against the newly-born Islamic Revolution.

Among the weapons displayed was the new long-range “Zolfaqar” ballistic missile, named after a legendary sword said to have given by the Prophet Mohammad to Imam Ali.
