Iran vows to expand missile programme against USA sanctions
“If such wrong and interventionist actions are repeated by the U.S., the ministry of defense should use all its capabilities to come up with new plans to expand Iran’s missile capabilities”, he added.

“We lack enough space in our stockpiles to house our missiles”, said General Hossein Salami, the Guards’ deputy, as a row with the USA over Iran’s ballistic missile programme deepened.
But The Wall Street Journal reported late Thursday the decision had been delayed.
“The uranium was not bomb grade, but the US anxious Iran could have used it to make a bomb in a matter of months if it had chosen to”, NPR’s Geoff Brumfiel reports.
Iran has argued that the nuclear deal only bars Iran from testing ballistic missiles that can deliver a nuclear payload, not those it claims for defensive purposes.
Iran’s president denounced the United States on Thursday for threatening new sanctions over Iranian missiles and ordered his Defense Ministry to respond by building more of them.
“Iran’s missile capabilities have never been the subject of negotiations with the Americans and will never be”, he was quoted as saying by Press TV, an Iranian state channel.
In a confidential report, USA sanctions monitors stated that, on October 10, Iran tested a ballistic missile, the medium range Emad rocket, capable of delivering a nuclear warhead, effectively violating a UNSC resolution.
The sanctions “remain on the table”, according to officials, but the paper said it is now not clear when or if they will move forward.
US officials have said Secretary of State John Kerry has been in almost constant contact with his Iranian counterpart, Javad Zarif, on the issue of the nuclear agreement and its implementation.
In the five months since the nuclear deal was struck U.S. officials say Iran has conducted two missile tests, one of which state media reported at the time, on October 11.
We are considering various aspects related to additional designations, as well as evolving diplomatic work that is consistent with our national security interests.
“While most interactions between Iranian forces and the U.S. Navy are professional, safe and routine, this event was not and runs contrary to efforts to ensure freedom of navigation and maritime safety in the global commons”, U.S. Central Command spokesman Kyle Raines said in an emailed statement to Reuters. Raines said the firing came 23 minutes after Iranians announced a live fire exercise over maritime radio. A French frigate and the USS Bulkeley destroyer were also in the area.

While the rockets weren’t fired in the direction of any ships, Raines said Iran’s actions were “highly provocative”. As part of the deal, the US committed to unfreezing as much as $100 billion in Iranian oil money frozen in overseas accounts.
