“All of the administrations and the United States are united in having reached this agreement”, Rouhani said through a translator.
Sharif said that bilateral trade volume between the two countries will be doubled after economic sanctions lifted from Iran. He also appreciated China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and wished that Iran could also be part of it.
Iran has always tried to keep a border of security and friendship with Pakistan and a lot of progress has been in this regard Rouhani said. Current trade volume remains low at U.S. $268 million per annum.
Opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, especially oil, gas and electricity were also discussed during the meeting. We consider Pakistan’s economic development as our development, the President added.
He said there are ongoing talks about Iran receiving the rest of its money, seemingly dismissing the idea it was a ransom without saying so directly.
In a meeting with Slovenian President Borut Pahor on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly, Rouhani welcomed the reopening of Slovenia’s embassy in Tehran and said the move by the Central European country can be very effective in development of ties between the two sides and facilitate investors’ activities.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that he will nominate two focal persons who will finalize energy projects with Iran in coming days. The Prime Minister shared the latest situation in Kashmir, which continues to remain tense in the wake of the uprising that has surfaced in response to Indian attacks in the Valley. “The people of held Kashmir have been victims of heinous acts of state sponsored terrorism at the hands of Indian occupation forces”, the statement quoted the premier as saying.

He noted that Syria’s territorial integrity must be preserved, and that Syrian people themselves must decide the political future of President Bashar al-Assad. The President extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for visiting Iran.
