Iraq army takes key town on road to Mosul from Islamic State
On Saturday, the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs said the Kurdish forces don’t have ambitions to capture any new areas in Iraq, reiterating that the Kurdish forces were ready to cooperate with the Iraqi army to fight Daesh group.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Thursday declared the liberation of Qayyara, a town near the Islamic State (IS) stronghold in Mosul, a government statement said.

Abdul-Ghani al-Asadi, the commander of the anti-terrorism agency, earlier said that Iraqi security forces killed about 250 fighters including leaders of different nationalities in the conflict over Qayyarah.

The Qayyara region produces heavy sour crude and has a small refinery to process some of the oil. Iraqi forces, backed by US -led warplanes, however, have managed to retake most of the territory.
