Irish boxer slams judges as ‘f—ing cheats’

Amateur boxing and it’s perverted decisions have soured many people thoughts towards it and many have turned their back on a sport they loved because of incidents like this.

Ireland’s Michael Gallagher was one of the ringside judges for the heavyweight final bout.

Irish world champion bantamweight Michael Conlan went on an expletive-laden rant on live television after losing to Russian Vladimir Nikitin.

Conlan has not commented further on the note, although the 24-year-old has been very vocal about the additional controversy that has plagued the Olympic boxing competition since his surprise loss.

I wonder what the present could be? I’ll never box for AIBA again; they’re cheating bastards.

“AIBA is striving for a fair, level-playing field”.

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) acted after several aggrieved boxers and their trainers accused the organisation of either corruption or overseeing what one highly respected coach called some “crazy” judging decisions in Brazil.

“They’re paying everybody. I don’t give a fuck if I’m cursing on TV”.

All three judges for Conlan’s fight awarded the third and final round to Nikitin, yet stats from boxing data provider Compubox reveal the Irishman landed 31 punches from 126 thrown compared to his opponents’ 21 punches from 87 thrown. My dream’s been shattered, but you know what?

However, AIBA said there was no possibility of overturning the results of any of the bouts concerned.

Several other fighters have complained vociferously about their losses in the last few days of the Olympics, as they invariably do in every worldwide amateur boxing tournament.

“I’ll not do another Olympics”. I’ve a big career ahead of me. “These statements are foundless but he’s free to have his opinion”. An angry and unfortunate Conlan also believes that Kelly’s revelation just before the games in Rio played a major part in not just his own fight but the entire Irish boxing roster.
