Is a Kell Brook v Amir Khan Fight Edging Closer For 2016?

A fight with Manny Pacquiao in Dubai next year appears unlikely, but Amir Khan said negotiations for a Wembley bout with unbeaten Kell Brook are progressing after he and Brook’s representative met recently.

“I am doing good and I can now move my arm without feeling any pain”, Pacquiao said in an interview via Opening Round.

As it stands we know that Mayweather is supposedly going to be heading into the final fight of his undefeated, professionally unblemished, and storied career (many still not buying into this though). His 9-12 month recovery time would make him unavailable to fight in September – the date of Mayweather’s presumed last fight – but available for a fight later the next year.

“I have made it clear to Eddie that I want this fight to be a big fight worldwide, not just in the UK”.

Pacquiao is still on the road to recovery from his recent right shoulder surgery and chances are he will be 100 percent fit by early 2016.

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is testing the patience of Top Rank CEO Bob Arum as he won’t obey his orders of returning to the United States to meet his doctor anytime soon.

Is Floyd Mayweather using Andre Berto as a tuneup for a possible rematch with Manny Pacquiao? “I’m not going to judge on this, but I didn’t see no injuries on Pacquiao that night”.

“Look at Mayweather-Pacquiao. People waited five years for that and look how much that generated”.

“Eddie believes this is a 50-50 fight, most of the fans believe this is a 50-50 fight, and our history together, that’s why this is such a huge fight in the UK”.

Fans are praying that rumours of a fight with California based South African Chris Van Heerden are just that, as such a low key opponent will surely do nothing to elevate Brook’s status in the eyes of Khan or anyone else. And, with his six-fight contract with Showtime/CBS complete, Mayweather could then air his last fight, a presumed rematch against Pacquiao, on pay-per-view with whichever network offers him the largest possible payout.

Mayweather is known for taking a while to officially announce fights weeks after reports about them have emerged.

Now that is certainly an admirable career record, but considering this is thought to be the final fight for a man proclaimed as the “pound for pound” best fighter in the world, it is simply not up to par.

Another boxer, Victor Ortiz, says the reported fight is “embarrassing” and suggested that both Mayweather and Berto should just retire. A victory over Berto would make him 49-0.
