Is actor Shia LaBeouf a reformed man?

“The only movie that I liked that we made together was Transformers one”.

Actor Shia LaBeaouf says he did not enjoy working with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. “He’s less a director than he is a fucking company”. In a fresh cover story interview with Variety, LaBeouf opened up about the loose creative process behind American Honey, the well-publicized string of headlines-crashing incidents that inspired him to give up drinking for good, and being approached about hopping aboard the Suicide Squad train. “I’m learning how to distill my “crazy” into something manageable, that I can shape and deliver on the day”. “You’re meeting a different Spielberg, who is in a different stage in his career”.

“I don’t think I’d be working with the directors I’ve been working with if I had not f-ked up a bit”, he says of his past mistakes.

What is certain is that they negatively impacted the career of a young actor once hailed as a future Harrison Ford, and whose career credits included the Transformers franchise and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

“Suicide Squad” is directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

LaBeouf had previously worked with Ayer on “Fury”, the World War 2 movie the director made before moving on to the commericially-successful but critically-ill-fated flick. “It was a big investment for them”.

LaBeouf will next be seen in Amanda Arnold’s indie drama American Honey.

Setoodeh also asked LaBeouf about Lindsay Lohan’s similarly very public struggles and how the actor might have fared in the glare of the media if he had been female. “But you’re in a tattoo parlor, and” – he shrugs – “peer pressure”. LaBeouf has been known to deeply immerse himself in his roles, even if it means not showering for weeks or pulling out his own teeth.

What do you think about the actor’s candid comments? Anyway, it’s actually (“actually”) not bad career advice from LaBeouf, who knows a thing or two about getting f*cking weird.
