Fox Networks struck ratings gold with Lee Daniels and Danny Strong’s Empire and during the Television Critics Association summer meeting, Daniels announced an Empire spinoff.

The Season 2 tagline for smash Fox drama “Empire” claims the show is taking things to a more “personal” level, but judging from the show’s newest trailer there’s still plenty of business to take care of as well. Of course, thats not an official announcement from Fox, so any Empire prequel is actually probably a decent—if not long-way off from getting made, if it does end up moving forward, at all. I have to be politically correct in what I say. “I spoke to my cast when we didn’t get an Emmy nomination (for series)”. I said, ‘We are lucky to be employed. “And now it’s next season and I’m like, yeah, you trying to go to Target now!”

Daniels also noted that his initial Emmy comments on social media were misinterpreted as anger rather than what he called his “deep sense of twisted humor”.

“Star is white and she is thrust into a world of blackness”, Daniels said. I happen to be gay. It’s about the truthful experience. “I think that is what Fox saw in the show”. “I’m very excited that we are picked up”. (Though to be clear, Oprah and Denzel are not booked to appear on the show-yet).

He added: “Here [Cookie] is now, but how did she get to where she’s at right now?”

Daniels confirmed that singer Mariah Carey would be making an appearance on the show, but hadn’t nailed down the details.

Lee Daniels says there will be a spin-off of his smash hit “Empire”.

This season of Empire will be bigger, quite literally.

“We were all surprised that it did that well, that every single week it climbed and continued on a trajectory that was going forward”, Grazer said.

The family looks completely divided in the first full trailer for season two.

“I’m just always blown away by the stories they come up with”. Viewers can expect the first half of the season to contain 10 episodes with a remaining 8 to air in the Spring.
