Is Dodgers’ Kershaw available as a reliever for Game 5?

This brings me to the next point of wagering on the World Series. So Mets fans shouldn’t feel overly anxious about the Mets playing Game 5 on the road because the Mets have actually fared better away from Citi Field lately.

The Mets are batting.206/.279/.381 as a team (their average is the worst among LDS teams) with six home runs and 19 RBIs. Justin Turner was tired.

Now the Dodgers have to take this series one step further to ensure that they get to play the Cubs this weekend.

Two simple words have the Ravine rocking in Los Angeles on Thursday: “Game 5”.

After the Dodgers lost to the New York Mets in Game 1 on Friday night, a violent assault occurred outside of the stadium, leaving one man in critical condition. 381 against the team in the seven games the clubs played against one another, and one of those long-balls came against deGrom.

The problem arises when – but considering Greinke’s talent and ability to last in games, if – New York gets to the Dodgers’ bullpen. By that standard the Mets would appear to have a slight edge. After that last game, on July 2, the Mets were a. 500 team that had been outscored 296 to 277, with an even worse.

The victor of tonight’s game will face the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series.

Considering he’s a frontrunner for the NL Cy Young award after his tremendous 2015 campaign (19-3, 1.66 ERA, 0.84 WHIP), he’s bound to earn even more money given the way pitchers have been paid over the past few years.

So here we go, win or go home game five. They’ve been there and done that. DeGrom was unhittable in Game 1 of the series, but allowed four singles in the first, and LA came roaring back to take the lead.

A big question for today’s game: who will catch for Zack Greinke?

Manager Don Mattingly had enough confidence in Hatcher and Jansen that therre was no temptation to send Kershaw back out to start the eighth inning with just 94 pitches on his odometer and three hits allowed to that point.

“I’m just thinking positive”. “This guy’s an animal, the way he works, represents us, the game of baseball, himself”. I don’t know. They’re both really fast, and they both are good hitting pitchers. “I try to block everything out once I get on the field”, he said. So that’s a pretty similar match-up.

So if Jacob deGrom needs help, both Thor and the Dark Knight will be available out of the bullpen.

If you had your choice of dominant pitchers to choose from, who would you want to see the Cubbies play in the NLCS? Tonight’s battle is game five of the NLDS.
