Is Drew Brees done for the season?
The New Orleans Saints could once again be with out Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees for their final two games of the season.

Brees’ 1-yard pass to tight end Benjamin Watson made it 35-27 with 1:55 remaining, but Detroit wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who caught just one pass for 19 yards, made his biggest haul of the night by recovering the onside kick. Brandin Cooks caught 10 passes for 124 yards and 1 touchdown.
“I’ve stopped trying to figure these guys out”, Caldwell said.
-PASSING OFFENSE: B. At times, the Saints weren’t as efficient as they’re used to being through the air but part of that can be attributed to the foot injury Drew Brees suffered early in the second quarter.
He completed 22 of 25 passes for 254 yards and three TDs. He finished the game with 341 yards, three touchdown passes and no interceptions as he became the fourth quarterback in National Football League history to throw for 60,000 yards.
“Obviously, if you complete 88 percent, that’s rare”, Lions coach Jim Caldwell said.
The No. 3 quarterback has been rookie Garrett Grayson, New Orleans’ third-round pick (No. 75 overall) this year. “I just had to keep it moving because it was getting stiff, but we were able to manage it”, Brees said. Brees, who famously takes almost all of the reps in practice during the week leading up to the game, leaves little room for a backup to get a lot of snaps in practice, but Flynn has had ample time to learn the Saints’ system. The situation is always fluid until you get to game time and you have to make those game-time decisions. Right now, on Wednesday, it’s kind of hard to really even think that far in advance. Do you try to put Brees out there, knowing that he won’t be 100%, or do you shut him down for the remainder of the season with no shot at the playoffs?
Stafford produced his first midway through the first quarter with a short pass to Golden Tate, who received well to score the first of two touchdowns.
They don’t come much more dependable than Glover Quin has been since he signed with the Detroit Lions as a free agent prior to the 2013 season. The Saints’ defense is a mess, and unlikely to get markedly better in one offseason, and if he opted out of his deal with the team, Payton would be a hot commodity. “We have to play better on defense”, safety Kenny Vaccaro said. “I don’t know if that pertains to his specific injury”.
The Saints don’t practice until tomorrow, so they won’t know until then if Brees can still go.

“My thinking is typically if a player is playing, we’ve cleared him medically and he’s not risking further injury”.
