Is Giants play calling too predictable? Patriots’ Bill Belichick weighs in

The New England Patriots’ 2015 had been devoid of any drama, so the Pats and Giants packed a half-season’s worth into the fourth quarter Sunday.

Edelman exited in the first quarter from New England’s 27-26 win over the Giants on Sunday when his left leg was rolled up on during a tackle, and he was reduced to crutches with a boot on his foot after the game. Brady will make his plays so the Giants have to limit his time on the field and frustrate a Patriots team that is sometimes susceptible to mistakes on the road.

The Giants roared back, chipping away over the next four minutes and getting inside the New England red zone with just over two minutes left.

Although the Giants are tied for the league lead in interceptions (13) this season, that also masks the fact that they’ve given up the second-most passing yards per game and also rank near the bottom of the NFL in yards per attempt (23rd) and completion percentage (27th) allowed. A field goal put the Giants up by a score of 26-24. The win improved the Patriots to 9-0.

It had looked like the Patriots’ arch nemesis would pull off another upset – just as they had when they halted the unbeaten Patriots’ march toward immortality with a Super Bowl win to cap the 2007 season.

The game winning field goal by Gostkowski was his 264th career field goal. These Patriots may not be as dominant as the version from eight years ago, but they’ve looked borderline unstoppable at times this season and, most importantly, this year’s Giants team bears little resemblance to those earlier Big Blue squads.

Odell Beckham Jr. saw his five-yard touchdown reception on the drive erased following an official review, and the decision to overturn the catch will undoubtedly be talked about in the days to come. They scored a field goal to take the lead in the final two minutes.

That possession was set up when Trumaine McBride intercepted Brady at the goal line, setting up an 86-yard, 15-play march to Brown’s field goal.

Though the situation was relatively dire for the Patriots offense – they were at their own 20-yard line with 1:28 remaining – Amendola said he knew he was going to be open after hearing Brady make the play-call.

Panthers 27, Titans 10 – Cam Newton completed his first 11 passes – the longest streak of his career -and undefeated Carolina (9-0) shut out Tennessee (2-7) in the second half. Instead, they had to deal with the kind of heartbreak they had dished to New England in their previous three meetings.

This is not the first time that the Giants have had issues closing out games.

If Brady is on then Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski could each have huge games when we watch the Patriots game live streaming or on TV today. With NY up by a score of 23-17, they had a golden opportunity to extend their lead, but a sack of Manning on first down backed up the Giants out of field goal range, forcing a punt.

“They’ve always played us pretty tough, so we’re expecting their best”, Brady said.

Brady completed 26 of 42 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson is third in the N.F.L.in rushing yards, while Fitzgerald ranks eighth in receptions and ninth in receiving yards.
