An announcement on LSU coach Les Miles’ future with the program will “most likely” come sometime after the Tigers’ final regular-season game Saturday, a source said Tuesday.

“They had me in (another) job not long ago too, as I recall, in fact on a plane that I was not on”, Miles said.
Writer Scott Rabalais of the Baton Rouge Advocate wrote a column last week with the headline, ” “Strong indications” LSU’s Les Miles coaching for his job vs. Ole Miss, Texas A&M“. He left after LSU athletic director Joe Alleva did not give him the raise he requested despite Miles wanting Chavis to get the raise so he would stay. The program oscillated for a bit between Andrew Hatch, a transfer from Harvard, and Jarrett Lee, a Texas quarterback who played well against everyone but Alabama. He was on the sidelines when the Tigers won the national championship for the 2007 season against Ohio State, and also helping them win the SEC one more time, leading them to what might be the point everything changed for him and the Tigers, the 2011 season national championship game. This year will be his 11th-straight bowl appearance. He has seven double-digit win seasons 2005, 06, 07, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
Miles and his staff, meanwhile, now have the No. 1 class in the 2016 ESPN RecruitingNation rankings, with 19 commitments.
While LSU has slipped and become a ‘Bama punching bag the past four years, I’m not sure cutting ties with Miles is the answer. All of those things scream, “DON’T FIRE THIS GUY!” They have two sons and two daughters. It’s not what the LSU administration sees.
“He’s done a great job since he’s been here, has put up historic numbers”, Dupre said, alluding to Miles reaching 100 victories faster than any other LSU coach.
Incoming talent has not been the trouble.
He’s already a recruiting machine and has a history of successfully developing quarterbacks into stars, including former Alabama signal-caller Blake Sims, current quarterback Jake Coker and former Tennessee gunslinger Jonathan Crompton.
Word on the bayou is that Jimbo Fisher tops the LSU wish list.
“There are not a lot of Les Miles out there”. Two are now in college with one in high school and one in grade school.
And they’ve also been trending down in conference play lately. Citing Miles’ overall record? There’s no disputing LSU has looked sloppy and pitiful in recent weeks.
Sophomore receiver John Diarse filled in while Dural was on the sideline for most of the Ole Miss game, but LSU spread the ball out without its second-leading receiver. In a vacuum, the money is not an issue, as several sources have pointed out. Whoever takes over will have a team loaded with talent, so there should be no rebuilding process. The SEC West is the most competitive division in the Power 5.

Miles hired Kevin Steele from the linebacker coaching position at Alabama to replace Chavis.
