IS Kills Dozens In Syria Attack

Professional and at least 35 Syrian troops -regime militiamen were murdered in a multiple on Sunday -entrance assault from the State team about Deir Ezzor’s western town, a check said.

“The fighters have infiltrated the northwestern side of the city and carried out the attacks”, said the Observatory which monitors the conflict in Syria via a wide network of local sources.

The IS militant group is in control of most of the eastern Deir al-Zor province while the government holds parts of the city of the same name, including a military airport.

The United Nations says there are some 450,000 people trapped in around 15 siege locations across Syria, including in areas controlled by the government, Islamic State and other insurgent groups.

State television also reported that regime forces had repelled an assault.

General Sergei Rudskoi, a senior Russian general, said: “The inhabitants are gradually coming back to Syrian cities and peaceful life is returning”.

Located some 30 kilometres south of the Turkish border, Al-Bab fell into rebel hands in July 2012, and IS jihadists captured it in late 2013.

One commander with pro-government forces said they were now fighting on seven fronts across Aleppo province, and the operation was expected to expand further.

He said that the army killed large numbers of the attackers.

The primary aid at present goes to the city of Deir ez-Zor, northern Syrian territory, pointed out the source of the Defense Ministry.

He said eight strikes hit the city and its surroundings but did not specify who carried them out.

Hammond said these interceptions as well as air strikes were placing extra strain on IS in its Raqa headquarters.
