The new Xbox One Slim would reportedly not have a Blu-ray drive, thus reducing its form factor and cutting manufacturing costs down exponentially while being a digital-only console. While the latter has sold more than 25 million units since its launch in November 2013, Xbox One was last reported to have 10 million units sold to retailers, while estimates put it around 12-13 million consoles sold to customers. The new device was expected by many to be unveiled at Microsoft’s upcoming major launch event, apparently planned for October. When asked by a fan regarding the possibility of an Xbox One Mini, he replied “Not Real”. Would an Xbox One Mini console that’s a third of the Xbox One be something you might be interested in?
The leak came from a Chinese blog, ‘WPDang’ which claims to have acquired details and specifications on the mini Xbox One. Xbox’s boss has been quite active on Twitter for the past couple of days talking about backward compatibility and Games with Gold among other things.
