Is Steven A. Smith hating on Dak Prescott ?

If Prescott impresses, the Cowboys likely will not be in the rush they were a year ago to get Romo back into the game. Romo’s sin, in this case desperately trying to extend a second down play in a preseason game, would be forgiven.

But Archer stressed that you shouldn’t be having nightmares of Bryant’s disappointing 2015 season just because Romo is hurt again. In 2014, it was two fractured transverse processes in Tony Romo’s low back.

Nearly every source that knows anything about Romo’s back injury states that he will he out approximately 6-to-10 weeks? And that would be fine, if the Cowboys had a decent succession plan in place.

The Dallas Cowboys would like to sign a veteran quarterback just in case something happens to Jameill Showers, who’s expected to play the entire game Thursday against Houston.

Behind him, the Cowboys don’t have much else.

This year, surprisingly, there is hope.

Dallas drafted Prescott, 23, with the 135th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft in the fourth round out of Mississippi State.

Prescott has had a breakout preseason where, through three games, he leads the league in passing yards (454), touchdowns (five), completion percentage (78.0 percent) and quarterback rating (137.8).

“It’s his preparation. It’s how he carries himself, everything, the whole effort it takes to make a quarterback in the NFL”.

Prescott has a chance to become the full-time starter for the Cowboys and Mullen knows he will give it everything he has in both preparation and execution. Owner Jerry Jones and team executive vice president Stephen Jones have said Prescott will be the starter in Week 1’s NFC East showdown with the rival New York Giants, but Garrett, as of yet, hasn’t ruled out Romo. I think the players see that, and he’s done a good job throughout training camp, learning the offense and executing plays and done a good job in the preseason. The rest of the Cowboys’ offense is so good that anything better than bad quarterback play makes it above average.

Prescott career at Haughton High School began as a backup. He is undeterred and he really believes this team does have a different sort of mindset with him not being here and that we can win games and when he does get back we’re ready to make a run. Of course he comes across as a hater to many people because it is well known by everyone that watches First Take that Steven A Smith is not too fond of the Cowboys.
