Ishaq Dar announces to oppose de-seating resolutions against PTI

The Minister expressed the confidence that JUI(F) being an ally of the Government would withdraw its motion.

He said Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman had agreed with him to withdraw the deseating motion tabled by one of the government-allied party’s lawmakers and that he hoped the opposition Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would do the same.

“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should play its due role for the development and prosperity of the country instead of politicking over non- issues like supporting traders strike”, he said talking to a news channel. “We want the political parties to work in collaboration for electoral reforms”, he added.

Jimmat e Islami and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz also stood up with PTI against resolution.

Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar on Monday said the collective efforts should be made to confront challenges of terrorism, energy and economy.

The minister said PTI had wasted five months during sit-in at D-Chowk as its workers attacked the national institutions as well.

But despite Mr Shah’s insistence that their fate be decided immediately without punishing the PTI, Mr Dar got the matter delayed for a week for the sake of consultations with the JUI-F and the MQM.

“Our chief Sirajul Haq played a positive role throughout”, he said.

Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad complained to the Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq that “had he tendered his resignation, it would have been accepted by the Speaker’s office in just two minutes”.

The PTI responded positively to the announcement of Dar as its senior leader Dr Arif Alvi appreciated the PML-N’s move saying it was in line with the spirit of democracy.PPP’s Ijaz Jhakrani, JI’s Sher Akbar Khan and Ghazi Ghulab Jamal from Fata appreciated the goodwill gesture and extended their full support to the government to oppose the motion if presented for voting.

He said the global human rights organisations had also expressed concerns and highlighted Indian brutalities on worldwide forum.

Minister for Law Pervaiz Rashid informed the House that 2,295 inquiries and 801 investigations were held during this period.

To a question, the Minister said that 293 million rupees have been allocated to the Ministry of Law during the current fiscal year.
