“Cesare was a hard-working professional, committed to help the people of Bangladesh”, the group said in a statement on its website. If confirmed, this will be ISIS’s first attack in Bangladesh.

“However, none of the suspicions are being ruled out yet for the sake of investigation. The murder is an isolated incident and the foreigners need not feel insecure”, the home minister said, adding that adequate security has been provided in the diplomatic zone. The 50-year old aid worker was employed at Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ICCO.

IS warned that “citizens of the crusader coalition” would not be safe in Muslim nations.
