ISIS accounts hacked as revenge for Orlando shooting

Members of the hacktivist collective Anonymous hacked into the Twitter accounts of self-proclaimed Islamic State group militants and replaced photos with porn, rainbows and signs of solidarity with the Orlando shooting victims. The hacker also changed their profile and background images to non-graphic gay photographs for the most emphatic effect.

“I did it for the lives lost in Orlando”, Anonymous hacker WauchulaGhost told Newsweek.

WauchulaGhost claims to have taken down more than 200 Twitter accounts belonging to ISIS supporters and sympathisers. The hacker says he didn’t use any hardcore porn images, however, out of respect to Islam.

‘Daesh [ISIS] have been spreading and praising the attack, so I thought I would defend those that were lost.

After receiving feedback from people who support the cause but not necessarily the porn, WauchulaGhost said he doesn’t plan to post images of pornography.

“You had all those innocent lives lost”, he told CNNMoney.

He also said that he is not trying to attack the Muslim community, the aim is to direct all actions towards jihadist extremists so that they stop taking innocent lives.

Numerous Twitter accounts replaced jihadist ideology with homosexual references. Twitter claims it’s closed more than 125,000 accounts promoting extremism, including that of ISIS, since 2015.

Anonymous hacker @WauchulaGhost has been hacking pro-Islamic State accounts since at least March 2016, but possibly earlier.

All Twitter accounts that were hacked by Anonymous for the LGBT hate crime were re-named ‘Jacked by Ghost’ for easy identification and then linked back to the Central Intelligence Agency.

Though the cyber attacks were directed towards ISIS, the hackers assured that their actions were not meant to offend Muslims in any way.

While the rest of the world mourned the vile attacks, ISIS celebrated.
