A spokesperson for the NYPD said that part of the footage is old, and Police Commissioner William Bratton referred to the video as “hastily produced”.

“The NYPD is the most capable police force in the country, with a robust counterterrorism operation that was just strengthened with an investment of 500 additional officers…”

People watch as a news ticker displays news of the shooting attacks in Paris, in Times Square in the Manhattan borough of NY, November 13, 2015.

NY City Mayor Bill de Blasio, meanwhile, urged his city’s residents to go about their lives and not allow such threats to affect their normal ways of life, the news channel noted.

Ray Corpuz from Wellington, New Zealand added, “You can’t help but to have fear, but we shouldn’t really be scared because if we are scared we are letting them win”. One thing common to all New Yorkers, though, is stress related to the economy.

“What we’re trying to do from a public safety standpoint is to assure people that we are working very hard all the time… we’re constantly on the offense and improving our defenses”, said Bratton.

A few cowardly scraps of human garbage posted a video on YouTube yesterday threatening more terrorist attacks on NYC.

The video’s release came just before the city goes into full holiday mode, with next week’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade followed by the Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center on December 2. She and her husband Mark arrived in the city Thursday morning from Louisville, where they shared with PIX11 News that they had no idea of the ISIS video until after they had touched down, “You’re here and if everybody stays in, what good does that do”.

Earlier this week, another video released by ISIS threatened to strike Washington, D.C.

The authenticity of the video has not yet been verified, and NY officials have said there are no specific threats against the city.

For months, tabloid accounts of homeless panhandlers, encampments and community complaints have made the issue of homelessness politically sensitive for Bill de Blasio.

Authorities in the US capital said they are stepping up security.

“For me, after 9/11, I live with this duality”, said Andreas Petrossiants, a NY University student sipping a coffee outside Greenwich Village’s Third Rail Coffee. “One of its biggest ambitions right now is to a launch a terrorist attack inside the United States”, he said.
