But the group has become fractured under his leadership, experts told AFP after the Barnawi interview was released.

Morocco has made a decision to support Niger militarily in the fight against Boko Haram, a terrorist organization based in Nigeria, Cameron and Chad, according to French news website Le Monde.
Boko Haram’s reign of terror in Nigeria has left over 20,000 dead, and displaced more than 2.2 million people from their homes, creating a catastrophic humanitarian emergency with people suffering malnutrition and children dying of starvation daily.
Abuja -The Nigerian Army has claimed that the news of ISIS installing a new leader for the Boko Haram sect in West Africa is of little concern to them as they have them covered, Herald reports.
Similarly, the statement said troops also intercepted another suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Lawal Aboi, along Damboa-Bale road.
He said: “I was asked to send my ideology in writing to the caliph but it was manipulated by some people in order to achieve their own selfish interests”.
Shekau maintained that nothing would deter the sect from pursuing it’s cause even if they are called “kwawarij” meaning those that opposed arbitration as a means to chose a new leader. 3, 2016 announced that Abu Musab al-Barnawi is the new leader of its so-called West Africa province.
Last June, Boko Haram committed a bombing attack that killed at least 11 people in a mosque in Cameroon.
The publication by Al Naba did not mention the current status of Barnawi’s predecessor Abubakar Shekau, sparking long-standing debates over his fate.
It is also a sign of the weakness of the group, possibly foreshadowing an eventual collapse. Its pledge of loyalty to the Islamic State previous year prompted uncertainty as to what that relationship would mean for either terrorist group in terms of actual financial or logistical support.
But some security analysts caution that the internal wrangling could make it more deadly and unpredictable. This earned him the reputation of group spokesman, experts say.
This indicates a shift in strategy for Boko Haram who have killed both Muslims and Christians alike in random attacks on mosques, churches, schools, and crowded markets.

Under his leadership, the Islamist group swore allegiance to IS and became more radical, carrying out more killings, attacks and violent acts.
