Island promises new life for Americans if Trump wins election
“So we will be able to track a little more significantly what this impact actually is”. “See for yourself, you belong here with us on Cape Breton Island, where health care is free, you know your neighbours and they look out for you, and nobody has a hand gun!”

Rob Calabrese, a radio host in Sydney, Nova Scotia, made a website that encourages angry Americans to relate to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and had received several inquiries about life there, according to a report from UPI.
The website then explained its rationale for seeking potential American residents disgusted by the prospect of a Trump administration.
The island is handsome, the cost of living reasonable and it could use a few more people, wrote Calabrese. Well, move to Canada – Cape Breton, specifically, says one man from the island.
Traffic to the website has increased steadily, reaching over 35,000 unique visits on Wednesday.
Calabrese launched the site on Monday, telling CBC News he’s capitalizing on what’s become an election year motto for fearful voters.
Calabrese, a radio DJ, also points out that summers on the island are “delightful” and winters are very similar to what’s experienced in the Northeast U.S.
“Don’t wait until Donald Trump is elected president to find somewhere else to live!” the website says. If that happens, and you decide to get the hell out of there, might I suggest moving to Cape Breton Island!
The cleanly designed website includes eye-catching photographs that would be familiar to most Nova Scotians: sweeping vistas of the Cabot Trial, a breaching whale, colourful fishing boats, a sturdy lighthouse, a majestic schooner and aboriginal dancers in full regalia, to name a few.
So. I know we’ve got readers worldwide.

Calabrese said he’s glad to respond with an answer or another “human being” who can help, rather than just pointing them towards a website.
