Isle of Wight Promoter Says David Bowie Will Never Tour Again

Bowie’s last United Kingdom show occurred at Giddings’ own Wight Festival.

Given Bowie’s capacity to shock and surprise though, and the frequency with which artists “retire” from touring before changing their mind, we wouldn’t rule it out completely.

While Bowie hasn’t toured since 2004, fans have long held out hope for the possibility that Bowie might return with at least one more farewell tour, but Giddings says that just isn’t in the cards. Written by David Bowie and Enda Walsh, the play, inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, stars Michael C. Hall of Hedwig and Dexter fame and Cristin Milioti of How I Met Your Mother and The Wolf of Wall Street.

After a period of hiatus, the music icon returned in fine fashion in 2013 with The Next Day, his first studio album in a decade. “However each time I see him now, before I even speak to him, he goes, “I’m not touring” & I allege, “I’m not asking”.

Giddings went on to say: “He has chose to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can’t demand these people go out there again and again and again”.

The 40th anniversary picture disc of Bowie’s “Space Oddity” hit number one on the U.K.’s official vinyl singles chart this week. David was out promoting his Reality album when he had sharp chest pains while on stage. Bowie hasn’t toured since 2004.

Last week Sky Atlantic released a 45-second clip of a track called “Blackstar”, which was commissioned for the British crime drama “The Last Panthers”.

Those rumors, according to the promoter, are false.
