Israel licks wounds as Iran sanctions end, looks to future United States aid
After the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated on Saturday that Iran has made all the necessary steps to fully implement the international nuclear agreement with the P5 +1 countries, both the USA and European Union removed previously imposed sanctions on Iran.

Nearly simultaneously, Iran released four imprisoned Americans, including Jason Rezaian, a reporter for The Washington Post, who had been convicted of spying for the West. Washington responded by freeing seven Iranians imprisoned in the United States for violating the sanctions. “It is limited to 10 or 15 years”.
Under current state policy, only state retirement funds are prohibited from making Iranian investments, officials said.
Capital transactions with Iran, including remittance for investment purposes, have been allowed as well, but the Korean currency has to be used for the time being because the use of the US dollar for the goal is in violation of the law of the United States as of now.
As the lifting of sanctions neared, it appeared that Iran, about to be re-integrated into the world economy, was tilting toward closer relations with Russian Federation, not with the United States.
The highly complex deal drew a line under a standoff dating back to 2002 marked by failed diplomatic initiatives, ever-tighter sanctions, defiant nuclear expansion by Iran and threats of military action.
Meanwhile, Iran’s ties to Russian Federation seemed to be warming. Moscow has also been considering extending two loans to the Iranian government worth a total of $7 billion, and Russian Federation will equip Iran with modern air-defense systems, according to country’s financial daily, Kommersant. (ISOICO) has reached a tentative deal with the Russian shipyard Krasnye Barrikady, or Red Barricades, to cooperate in the construction of oil rigs and share technology.
“Instead of shoring up the nonproliferation regime, the Iran deal is likely to dangerously undermine it…”
Israel bristled on Sunday at the lifting of global sanctions on Iran and vowed to flag up any violations of its arch-foe’s nuclear restrictions while drawing on US defence aid to prepare for a possible military face-off in the future.
“Netanyahu is convinced that this is an historic mistake, but that it will become clear only after Obama is far from the centre of influence and the White House”, Segal said. Iran must not be allowed to get nuclear weapons.

AJC and the Anti-Defamation League addressed Iran’s ongoing human rights abuses and expansionism in the Middle East, in part through proxies like Hezbollah, with the ADL calling for USA “pushback” on these policies. “We need to take advantage of that”.
