U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is in Jordan renewing his push to ease violence and tension between Israel and the Palestinians. “We did not lose the hope”.
Noting the video monitoring, Kerry said it would provide “comprehensive visibility and transparency, and that could really be a game-changer in discouraging anybody from disturbing the sanctity of this holy site”.
Like Kerry, the EU’s top diplomat Federica Mogherini has held talks with Israel’s premier Benjamin Netanyahu.
It also called for “maximum restraint and avoidance of provocative rhetoric and actions”.
Israel’s military said it is looking into the incident.
Eight Israelis have been killed in stabbings by Palestinian assailants and other violence.
The Shin Bet says the attackers were both born in 1995 and are residents of Surif, near the West Bank city of Hebron.
The incidents were the latest in a cycle of violence which erupted on Oct 1, raising fears of a new Palestinian intifada, or uprising.
Since mid-September, police had barred younger Muslim men from the site, which is revered by both Muslims and Jews and is a source of soaring Israeli-Palestinian tensions.
According to the station, the rights group was helping Palestinians harvest olives in the northern West Bank when harassed by Israeli extremists.

Late Wednesday, a Jewish Israeli man was shot and killed in a scuffle with Israeli soldiers who thought he was a Palestinian attacker, police said Thursday.
One Israeli, he added, had been slightly injured in the attack, while one of the two Palestinians later succumbed to his injuries at Western Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.
Liu made the appeal at a Security Council meeting on the Middle East, noting that the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate in the face of multiple challenges such as blockade by Israel, unstable Palestinian-Israeli situation and serious shortage of resources.
