Israel locks down Palestinian town after attack

A Palestinian minor was killed by Israeli gunfire during clashes in the occupied West Bank on Friday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.

The region has been witnessing intensifying violence since four months, raising more concerns of wider escalation, a decade after the last Palestinian uprising subsided.

The forces then opened fire on the teenagers, killing one and detaining another, the spokesperson said.

The two others were 16 when they killed Abu Khdeir in 2014 but are now 18.

The court sentenced a second Israeli, believed to have had a lesser role in the crime, to 21 years in prison. Yet Israel, he said, is not demolishing the homes of the Jewish assailants.

Witnesses told Ma’an that they saw a child lying on the ground after hearing gunshots where Israeli forces were deployed in the al-Hawawer area of Halhul city.

The murder was carried out in revenge for the abduction and killing earlier that summer of three Israeli teens by Palestinians said by Israel to have been Hamas operatives. She repeatedly chose not to answer the question, preferring only to offer up the official policy of her government: “I’m representing a government that is declaring in a very clear way on a policy of a two-state solution…I am representing the policy of my government”.

Residents and Palestinian police said all entrances to Qabatiya were locked down.

Palestinian media reported Friday that Israel had returned the bodies Ahmed Abou Al-Roub, Mohammed Kameel and Ahmad Rajeh Ismail Zakarneh, the three Palestinian youths who carried out Wednesday’s combined shooting and stabbing attack which killed 19-year old border policewoman Hadar Cohen in Jerusalem.
