Israel’s Shimon Peres in serious but stable condition after stroke
Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Dr. Itzik Kreiss said the hospital would hold a press conference in the afternoon to brief the public on Peres’ condition. We can’t know, the man has seven [sic] lives. However, he gave an optimistic forecast, saying all Peres’ physical parameters were stable and his blood tests were good.

Through budget restraints, subsidy cuts, and tough fiscal decisions while serving as finance minister, Peres was able to lift Israel out of the economic crisis in the mid-1980s, navigating the economy out of a major catastrophic situation, Meital said.

Valdan, who is married to Peres’ daughter, has said he does not believe that his life is in imminent danger but called it a hard time for the family.
Peres needed to be sedated last night for the doctors to better proceed with medical treatment yet his condition has improved to the point where the doctors have lowered the dosage of anesthetics.
“I’m so happy to return to work, that was the whole goal of this operation”, he said. His spokeswoman Ayelet Frisch said Tuesday was no exception, waking early to read the daily newspaper before delivering an hour-long lecture and then uploaded a video to his Facebook account in which he encouraged the public to buy locally made products.
Born in Wiszniewo, Poland, he was one of the founders of the Labor-Zionist Youth Movement and a member of the Hagana during the pre-state period.
He became director general of the nascent defence ministry at just 29 years old.
Peres served three brief terms as prime minister, but he also served in other senior posts across government.
He served in some of these positions a few times.

Peres, Israel’s elder statesman, was an architect of a 1993 interim peace deal with the Palestinians known as the Oslo Accords, for which he won the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize.
