Israel Says May Have Mistakenly Killed Palestinian Teen

Israeli forces Tuesday demolished the West Bank home of a Palestinian who killed a USA tourist and wounded several Israelis in a March stabbing rampage in Tel Aviv, an Israeli army spokeswoman told AFP.

The mayor, Abdul Karim Kassem, told the Reuters news agency that Mahmoud had been in a vehicle with other passengers “returning from a pool in a village near us when they came under fire”.

Three Israelis were lightly injured in the incident near the Beit Ur al-Tahta village, near the West Bank city of Ramallah.

The death of the teen early on Tuesday morning occurred after three people, an Israeli man and two foreign tourists, were injured when rocks hit their vehicle traveling near Jerusalem on Route 443.

“From the initial inquiry it appears that uninvolved bystanders were mistakenly hit during the pursuit”.

Palestinian leaders say attackers have acted out of desperation over peace talks frozen since 2014 and Israeli settlement building in occupied territory that Palestinians seek for a state.

Israeli media reported two foreigners and one Israeli were wounded by stone-throwing.

Mr Ahmad said the victim was just 14 years old, though reports from other officials allege that he was 20.

An earlier statement from the military had identified the boy as an assailant.

Two people were arrested, the military said. Four other Palestinian teenagers traveling with him were injured, with one in critical condition.

Lawmakers later voted to impose a minimum three-year jail sentence on stone-throwers. More than 180 Palestinians have also been killed, more than half carrying out attacks against Israelis and the rest in clashes with Israeli troops.

Responding to PA claims it “executed” a Palestinian teenager killed by IDF soldiers overnight, Israel says Palestinian incitement and terror is to blame for the security situation that lead to the death.

An army spokeswoman said the Palestinian carried out the March 8 seafront knife attacks which killed 29-year-old Texan Taylor Allen Force and wounded at least 10 Israelis as US Vice President Joe Biden arrived for a visit.
