Israel says new missile-defense system ready
The three systems incorporate a network of radar-guided interceptors created to shoot down everything from the low-flying, Katyusha-style rockets of Hezbollah and Palestinian guerrillas to the ballistic Shehab and Scud missiles of Iran and Syria.

The DSWS is a surface-to-air missile system created to intercept medium-to-long-range rockets and cruise missiles, fired at ranges from 40km to 300km.
David’s Sling is scheduled for delivery toward the end of March.
Yedidia Ya’ari, CEO of Rafael told Army Radio Tuesday that David’s Sling was his company’s most ambitious project and that all the engineering work was done by Israelis.
Israel’s Defense Ministry announced Monday that it had completed its testing of the country’s David’s Sling missile defense system, and that the system will be operational during 2016. The Israeli military said it responded with “targeted artillery fire”.
Hezbollah, which battled Israel during a monthlong war in 2006, is believed to possess tens of thousands of rockets and missiles.
The advanced interceptor is part of Israel’s four-tiered air defense, which also includes the Iron Dome system, which intercepts and destroys short-range rockets and artillery shells, the Arrow 2 short- and medium-range ballistic missile interceptor, and the Arrow 3 long-range missile defense system, which is now entering the last leg of its development. Amidror estimated to Army Radio on Tuesday that Hezbollah had lost 10 to 20 percent of its fighters. He realizes that doing so could easily result in the demise of Hezbollah, or at the very least to a severe weakening of its capabilities.

The tests were conducted in southern Israel, and video of the test was released on Monday.
