Israel states it strikes Gaza following rocket fire
The USA military says it has conducted two more airstrikes overnight on Taliban positions around a northern Afghan city seized by the insurgents this week.

The Public Workers Union in the Gaza Strip has said that the eight year Israeli siege and last year’s military offensive on the coastal enclave raised the number of unemployed workers to 213,000, responsible for the well-being of 900,000 family members, Anadolu reported on Sunday.
Witnesses said the strikes targeted training facilities belonging to Gaza militant groups.
An alert sounded in Ashdod before the anti-missile system destroyed the rocket. There were no reports of injuries or damage from the rocket or the interception. However video published to social media showed only a single interception.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said police units were dispatched to search for an impact site and shrapnel.
“The attack took place in response to… rocket attacks on the State of Israel earlier this evening, which was intercepted by an Iron Dome battery”, according to a statement released by the IDF.
Two Israeli medical/business school students on holiday in New Zealand, who served in the Israeli Army, are offering to share their experiences as reserve soldiers in last year’s conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Ashdod’s distance from the Strip likely indicates the use of a larger rocket than the type usually employed by smaller Salafist groups.
Though most of the blame is being aimed at Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (as much as at ongoing dispute between them), such tensions have a history of boiling over into violence against Israel, especially in regards to the recent escalation in Jerusalem over the Temple Mount.

“The persistence of the current volatile reality increases anxiety and uncertainty, overshadowing the ability of Palestinians to perceive a brighter future”, World Bank Country Director for the West Bank and Gaza, Steen Lau Jorgensen, said.
