Israel strikes Syria after projectile lands in Golan Heights
Israel and for the first time demolished on Wednesday a home in the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights claiming it was built without a permit, a Golan-based human rights group said on Thursday. In response to the mortar fire, IDF aircraft struck Syrian military positions in Syria’s Northern Golan Heights. Moreover, the Syrian army has repeatedly seized huge quantities of Israeli-made weapons and advanced military equipment from the foreign-backed militants inside Syria.

A similar incident occurred on Sunday, with Israel firing back toward posts of the Syrian army.
Golan Heights is a strategic plateau captured by Israel from Syria in 1967 and annexed in 1981, a move which has not won worldwide recognition. The drone had apparently returned to Syria. Israel has said the fighting in Syria is an internal issue, and Israel’s only concern is that it not spill over into Israel. It did provide medical treatment to hundreds of wounded Syrians who reached the border.
The Israeli military said spillover projectiles will not be tolerated and that Israel holds the Syrian regime of President Bashar Assad responsible.

While most were presumed to be stray shots, Israel has accused Syria of aiming at Israeli targets on several occasions, briefly returning fire.
