Israel to build new fence near violence hotspot of Hebron

Meanwhile, International Workers Transport Federation president Paddy Crumlin condemned Monday’s “cold-blooded” shooting of Palestinian taxi driver Shadi Khasib by an Israeli settler. The Palestinians seek all of the West Bank, captured by Israel in 1967, as the heartland of their future state.

The Israeli premier Erekat added “also refuses to talk about the issues of Palestinian refugees and [the status of] Jerusalem while insisting on Israeli control of the Jordan Valley Palestinian airspace and all border crossings in any future agreement”.

Government officials, however, have rejected the idea, an Israeli official said. Both the officer and the official spoke on condition of anonymity because the offer has not been made public.

Israel says the unrest stems from incitement by Palestinians. Palestinians also accuse Israel of using excessive force in suppressing violence. That law imposes a minimum sentence of three years on rock throwers, and can strip them and the parents of minors of losing social security benefits.
