Israel to free Palestinian hunger strike detainee, lawyer says, AsiaOne World News

Adnan is being held in “administrative detention”, a procedure under which Israel imprisons Palestinian suspects without trial indefinitely for renewable six-month periods.

The official noted Adnan’s deteriorating health and the requests of the worldwide Committee of the Red Cross and Palestinian Authority to release him as contributing to the decision to free him. His wide Randa said on Monday after visiting the 37-year-old in an Israeli hospital that he had lost a lot of weight and “looked like a small child.” She said he was unable to hold their 15-month-old son, AP reported.

He was rearrested by Israel on July 8 2014 at an Israeli army checkpoint near the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

He was arrested as part of an Israeli mass roundup shortly after last June’s kidnapping and kill of three Israeli teenagers in the occupied West Bank.
