Israeli police also said forces foiled an additional attack Tuesday afternoon in Abu Dis, just east of Jerusalem.

Israeli security guards shot dead a Palestinian who ran towards them with a knife near Jerusalem’s Old City on Tuesday, shortly after two Palestinian boys stabbed a guard on a tram nearby, Israeli police said.

As Manasra’s trial began Tuesday, a security guard was stabbed and moderately wounded at the Pisgat Zeev light rail station by two Palestinian kids – a 12-year-old and 14-year-old. Authorities released footage showing a Palestinian running toward the guards with what appears to be a knife and attempting to attack them with it before he is shot. The guard was lightly wounded and shot the woman, wounding her.

The others were killed in violent clashes with security forces throughout the West Bank and on the Gaza border.

The unrest has largely consisted of apparent lone-wolf attacks by young Palestinians on Israelis but Israel has accused Hamas of encouraging the violence from its bases in the Gaza Strip and in exile in Qatar. Israeli army spokesperson Peter Lerner said that the attack had been “foiled”.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, more than 80 Palestinians have died, a few in clashes with security forces during protests, while others gunned down by security forces and vigilante citizens after allegedly trying to carry out attacks against Israelis.

Israel has blamed the violence on incitement by Palestinian political and religious leaders. He said he was stabbed while shopping in a Palestinian village. Still, she said, it shows the “vision” that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has for the area.

The Israeli military says soldiers and police have arrested 24 suspected Hamas operatives in the northern West Bank town of Qalqilya.

Police also said that an officer wounded in a Palestinian attack earlier this month had died of his wounds. The Israelis, aged 20 and 13, survived their wounds.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas caused an uproar in Israel when he erroneously claimed in a televised speech that Israelis had “summarily executed” Manasra, who at the time was recovering at an Israeli hospital. One of the officers shouts at Ahmed, “Is this you, this person?” as the teen cries and says he doesn’t remember.
