“The Israeli army launched in August 2014 reprisals against the Palestinians, in response to the abduction of one of its soldiers in the town of Rafah”, Israeli sources said the army official had been killed, they explained. “No one can deny that the everyday reality of occupation provokes anger and despair, which are major drivers of violence and extremism and undermine any hope of a negotiated two-state solution”.

After the Foreign Ministry, as well as Israel’s National Information Directorate at the Prime Minister’s Office and Government Press Office, all contacted CBS, the headline was changed to “Israeli police kill 3 alleged Palestinian attackers”.

The reported threat on Odeh’s life came days after three MK’s, also from the Joint List, were temporarily suspended from the Knesset on Monday after visiting the families of Palestinians who were killed while carrying out attacks on Israelis.

In a statement, the European Union diplomatic service said last weekend: “In the past weeks there have been a number of developments in Area C of the West Bank which risk undermining the viability of a future Palestinian state and driving the parties yet further apart”.

A photo taken on February 1, 2016 shows a partial view of the illegal Israeli settlement of Efrat situated on the southern outskirts of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem.
