Later in Jerusalem, police forces fired tear gas to disperse several dozen protesters who were demanding that Israel hand over the bodies of Palestinians killed in attacks or during clashes with Israeli troops.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said the two Palestinians were relatives, one aged 17 and the other, 23.
She said the attacker was a 26-year-old Palestinian from annexed east Jerusalem.
An Israeli soldier was moderately injured early Sunday morning in a stabbing attack at the entrance to Jerusalem, close to the central bus station.
One Palestinian witness, Suhail Hamed, 39, said the police opened fire when the vehicle was 150 metres (yards) away from them. Police said they had “spotted a man who aroused their suspicions and approached him to check”.
