Mr Netanyahu also extended an invitation to Mr Abbas urging him to address Israel’s parliament, which the Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations rejected as a “new gimmick”.
The Israeli official also said that Netanyahu was willing to meet with the major party presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, but acknowledged that neither campaign had requested a meeting.
Ignoring for a moment Obamacare, which is considered by some one of the greatest pieces of legislation in USA history and others the absolute worst, Obama’s relationship with Israel should go down as the worst component of his presidency.
The Palestinian leader also said that Britain should apologize for the 1917 Balfour Declaration that endorsed the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine.
Peace talks on the long-running conflict between Israel and Palestine stalled in 2014 and Mr Abbas, who has been Palestinian president for 11 years, said any hope of real statehood for Palestine was impossible while Israel continued to build settlements, which are universally regarded as illegal, in the occupied West Bank, and he urged all countries present to recognise Palestine as a state.
“For the first time in my lifetime, many other states in the region recognize that Israel is not their enemy, they recognize that Israel is their ally”, he said, pointing to Iran and the Islamic State group as shared threats.
He invited Abbas to speak at Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, saying he would “gladly” come to Ramallah to speak at the Palestinian Legislative Council.
“At a time of great challenges in the Middle East, we are disappointed that talks between Israelis and Palestinians remain stalled”, the senators wrote.
He noted that he will visit West Africa later this year, having gone to the eastern end of the continent a few months ago.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) – The global diplomatic “quartet” of Mideast peacemakers called once again on Friday for Israel and the Palestinians to take steps to resume stalled peace talks.
“We never forget that our most cherished alliance, our deepest friendship, is with the United Nations of America, the most powerful and the most generous nation on Earth”, Netanyahu said.
Despite the attempts of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convince the world that Israeli settlements are not an obstacle to peace, the Quartet on the Middle East reiterated its opposition to settlement construction today (Friday).
Netanyahu said his state’s counterpart, the Palestinian leadership, has encouraged terrorist acts and launched bombs into Israel’s cities. “Yep, you guessed it, Israel”, Netanyahu said.
The State of Palestine now enjoys observer status, the same as the Holy See.
The statement was issued here at the end of a meeting of representatives of the Quartet – UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

Netanyahu reminded the assembly that Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 and “we didn’t get peace, we got thousands of rockets”.
