Israeli soldiers wounded in stabbing attacks, 2 Palestinian assailants killed
Israel says 88 of them were attacking or attempting to attack Israelis while the rest died in clashes with Israeli troops. Eyewitnesses refuted the military allegations.

On Saturday afternoon, there were clashes with security forces after around 150 Palestinians demonstrated near the wall of the Old City in east Jerusalem to protest an Israeli policy of keeping the bodies of killed attackers rather than returning them to their families, a police statement said. One of the soldiers was lightly injured.
Two Palestinians were killed after allegedly stabbing an Israeli soldier, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
According to police spokeswoman Luba Samri, officers approached a man who was said to had drawn their suspicions just outside the Old City for following a pair of Jewish worshippers.
The Israeli rescue service said it took two soldiers to hospital, one moderately wounded and one lightly, but it did not describe their injuries. A security guard overpowered and captured the assailant. No Israelis were injured in this attack either.
A wave of violence since the start of October has claimed the lives of 135 people on the Palestinian side, 19 Israelis, an American and an Eritrean.
The Huwwara area – particularly the military checkpoint next to the village – has been site to frequent confrontation between local Palestinians and Israeli military and settlers in recent months. Pedestrians stopped and helped the soldier stop the bleeding until paramedics arrived to give emergency treatment. “The terrorist whipped out a knife and tried to stab a police officer”.

Israel says the unrelenting violence is fanned by a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement. The latest round of U.S.-brokered peace talks collapsed in April 2014. They are also angry with Israeli extremists who, escorted by army forces, have stepped up their raids on the sensitive site, which is Islam’s third holiest after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.
