Israeli troops kill West Bank protester in arrest raid: Palestinians

In separate incidents on Thursday, attacks in Jerusalem and the West Bank injured an Israeli policeman, a soldier and a bystander, and two Palestinian alleged attackers were shot dead.

The person killed was identified as Malek Shahin.

The 19-year-old is said to have been among a group of people demonstrating against the soldiers, who had arrived to arrest two men – both of whom were reportedly apprehended.

The Ofer military court near the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah said on Monday that Jarrar, who is a prominent political figure and activist, received her sentence a day earlier. In a statement issued on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s Executive Committee, she said it violated Jarrar’s parliamentary immunity and called for her immediate release.

A shipment of 4,000 dolls with anti-Israel clothing and messaging were intercepted by Haifa customs officials on their way to Palestinian Authority territory on Tuesday.

“Forces fired warning shots into the air in order to disperse the mob and prevent an escalation of violence”, a military spokeswoman said.

An Israeli army spokesperson had no information of his death, but said that Israeli soldiers had opened fire after Palestinians threw “pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails” at them.

In East Jerusalem, an American tourist was lightly wounded yesterday by stone-throwers.

Relations between Jerusalem and Stockholm worsened after Israel’s foreign ministry again took exception to Margot Wallstrom’s comments, but the Swedish premier defended her, saying her remarks had been blown out of all proportion.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s suggestion that Israel needed to become a binational state was rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Times of Israel said the dolls were found during an ordinary inspection process.
