Palestinian camp activist Raed Hamdan identified the two as Ahmad Jahajha, a 21-year-old resident of the Qalandia camp, and Hikmat Hamdan, 29, from the nearby town of el-Bireh.
Since mid-Sept., Palestinians have killed 19 Israelis in stabbing, shooting & vehicular assaults.
Jerusalem District Police Chief Moshe Edri hailed the three shooters who brought the incident to an end: “Their quick and accurate action, which neutralized the terrorist, prevented a more serious attack”.
Since Oct. 1, Israeli forces have killed 112 Palestinians, 67 of whom Israel says were assailants or had been caught on camera carrying out assaults.
Sixty-seven percent back the use of knives, while 66 percent of those asked said an armed intifada or uprising would “serve Palestinian national interests in ways that negotiations could not”, the survey by the respected Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR) found.
The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) affirmed that the Israeli authorities do not only demolish Palestinian homes, but also hinder the issuance of any building licenses for Palestinians in Jerusalem and its boundaries.
“We continue to be gravely concerned at the unrelenting violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and in Israel”, Cecile Pouilly, spokeswoman for the United Nations human rights office, told reporters.
Lastly, Pouilly called on both Israeli and Palestinian leaders to act decisively to de-escalate the situation.
