Issa: I’m considering running for House speaker
“Jason’s a acceptable man, an honorable man, yet he got his job by going to Boehner and saying he would shut down in that rancor in that was going on, he would go along, get along – and he has done that”, Issa stated.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-California, said that Ryan told him privately he is thinking about it as well. Paul Ryan is not a candidate for speaker.
Stewart said he urged Ryan to run, with the Wisconsin Republican saying that he was “thinking and praying on it”. “I pledge to play a constructive role in that discussion and hope my colleagues will do the same as we work to choose a Speaker who best represents the values and aspirations of the American people”, according to Darrel Issa’s personal website.
Republicans are also putting pressure on Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to run for the position after Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) abruptly dropped out of the race on Thursday.
He said later on MSNBC, “The fact is, yes, I think that I could be, potentially, a candidate”.
“Paul is a very bright, talented fellow who does things in a very methodical fashion and we’ll see if he decides that trying to put this jigsaw puzzle back together is what he wants to do”, said Lucas. Ryan, who has three children at home, has been telling colleagues that he had to have the support of his family before he would run for speaker, said Rep. David Valadao, R-Calif.

Issa noted that the Republican Party is moving to the right. Ryan – or whoever takes this thankless post – will need to get 240 votes before jumping in to take it, and not just for personal vanity.
