Insecure follows the friendship of two modern day black women and all of their insane experiences, and racy tribulations. Although she is very successful professionally in the corporate world, Molly is not so successful in her love life. HBO has ordered the series Insecure, created by Rae and The Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore, according to Variety. Rae’s on-screen boyfriend is Lawrence, a man who just can’t seem to get his life together (portrayed by Jay Ellis from BET’s The Game).

The 30-minute laffer will star Rae, who is also a co-exec producer and writer on the series.

Prentice Penny (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will serve as showrunner on the series, exec producing with Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry.

First-time TV director Melina Matsoukas helmed the pilot. That show was a smash hit on the web, and Rae’s content, which garnered over 20 million total views and 200,000 channel subscribers, is what originally led HBO to her doorstep.
