The U.S. team of David Boudia and Steele Johnson won the silver medal in men’s synchronized 10-meter diving on Monday in Rio.

Gold eluded them, however, due to excellent dives by the China’s Lin Yue and Chen Aisen, who had a slightly higher degree of difficulty in the third and fourth rounds.
Partnering with Steele Johnson, Boudia won silver in the event Monday afternoon in Rio. The American team stayed in second-place position throughout the competition, fending off the eventual British bronze-medal team of Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow.
The reigning champion made his first Olympic appearance in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a 19-year-old.
Johnson posted a photo of the pair to Instagram on Sunday night, saying: “It has been a long journey to get to this moment, but the work is not done yet”.
Synchro diving has been contested since the 2000 Sydney Games, and the USA men had never medaled before picking up a bronze in both the 10-meter platform and 3-meter springboard events in London.

Of his teamwork with gold medalist Boudia, Johnson told NBC Olympics, “He has taught me so much and I wouldn’t trade diving with him or being friends with him for anything”.
