It’s raining money for PV Sindhu, land for ‘dronacharya’ Gopichand

A day after the Telangana government felicitated them for the historic achievement, the Andhra Pradesh government went out of the way to give them a rousing reception.

The TDP leaders, particularly, local MLA Bonda Uma made every attempt to project Sindhu, Gopichand and their family members as locals of Vijayawada.

Sindhu said that she is happy to arrive in Vijayawada describing it as her grandfather’s place, adding that she used to visit the place as a child in vacations.

The interesting incident where AP CM turned badminton player and played the game for few minutes, occurred at Olympics Silver Medal victor PV Sindhu’s felicitation programme held in Vijayawada on Tuesday.

The video recorded days before Sindhu left for Rio, shows Praanjala playing really well with the silver medallist.

Andhra Pradesh has announced a slew of rewards, including a cash award of Rs 3 crore and 1,000 sq yds of house site in the state’s new capital Amaravati for the shuttler. He said 15 acres of land will be allotted for Gopichand for his academy to produce world-class players.

He also dreamed of hosting Olympics in the future in Amaravati.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu who is normally very busy with officials ssignments and administration responsibilities, turned badminton player for some time on Tuesday.
