It’s time for the Thanksgiving Day Parade in NY
Jitters have focused on large and heavily-attended events, like New York’s Thanksgiving Day parade. So fears about terrorism aren’t stopping anyone. Most states held Thanksgiving on its original date, and three states – Colorado, Mississippi, and Texas – celebrated the holiday in both weeks, according to The Wall Street Journal. Some stations will air the parade later this holiday season.

Officials estimate about 3 million spectators will line the streets of Manhattan to see the marching bands, musical acts and famed Rockettes. People pose for photos near the Snoopy balloon as preparations are made for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, in NY. While that’s a major stop on the route, it’s not Herald Square.
Bratton also said that regular police officers, armed with standard-issue 9-mm handguns, are trained to “neutralize any threat that they would encounter”.
We look forward to this all year and we are so excited to see the four new floats that will be part of this year’s 89th parade!
“I’m sure that’s on people’s mind with the tragedy that occurred in Paris”, says John Sayers, interim superintendent of the regional Southeastern School Corporation.
When WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond asked Pat Early what she enjoys about the parade, she said: “It’s the people on the side”.
“As the Thanksgiving holiday weekend approaches, the Port Authority Police Department remains on heightened alert at all of the agency’s bridge, tunnel, rail, World Trade Center and other facilities, following the recent tragic terrorism incidents in Paris and elsewhere”, the spokesman said.
“I know there are real threats more traveling overseas than domestically, but personally, it doesn’t bother me too much”, one woman said.
She missed out on joining the Marching Illini in today’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade by a year.

“There will be a lot of people”, she said. “None of them have checked out”, New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said Thursday on “CBS This Morning”.
