ITA Names Hoya Men and Women to All-Academic Squad

The Red Storm finished the 2014-15 academic year with a 3.51 cumulative grade-point average (GPA), meeting the mandatory 3.30 to be considered for the honor. A record-total of 762 volleyball programs earned team academic honors, which broke the previous year’s total of 757.

Munoz, a financial management and investments major with an overall 3.737 GPA, was also named a Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year nominee and a CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee last season. The Champaign, Illinois, native earned a 3.86 GPA during the 2015-16 academic year en route to both Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll honors while landing on GW’s Athletics Academic Dean’s List. Hansen garners ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the third time in her career.

The Augie men’s team, too, had plenty of ITA academic notice, with five individuals honored and the team with All-Academic recognition.

Jakuciunaite tallied a 3.68 GPA in her senior year as an global affairs major.

“Once again, I am impressed with our team’s ability to accomplish such high academic goals during an extremely rigorous season of training and competition”, said Head Coach Joanne Persico. Andrea Estrada and Abby Barrow earned inclusion on the Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention Team.
