Italian police arrested two men on Wednesday suspected of supporting the Isis group and plotting to carrying out attacks in the country.
They said the threats in the name of Islamic State carried on the Twitter account “Islamic State in Rom” featured images of the Roman Colosseum and Milan’s Duomo cathedral, with a warning that they were identifying targets and preparing to strike. One of the messages said, “We are in your streets”. “We are everywhere. We are locating targets, waiting for time X”, read some of the messages, written in Italian, Arabic and French.
“The Pakistani and Tunisian did not just show complete adherence to [ISIS], with plans to travel to Syrian territory to participate in military training with the mujahedeen, but [also] spoke with each other about possible terror attacks within Italy”, Romanelli said, according to the AP.
