Rose, says it’s permanently closing all of its campuses nationwide after the U.S. Department of Education prohibited the for-profit college operator from enrolling new students who use federal financial aid.

In a statement, officials with ITT Educational Services – the parent company of ITT Technical Institutes – said they are ceasing all academic operations on ITT Tech campuses “after 50 years of continuous service”. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is reaching out to offer help to thousands of ITT Tech students across Ohio following the for-profit school’s decision to close its doors.
The lawsuit claims ITT violated the federal Worker Adjustment Retraining and Notification Act, which requires 60 days’ advance written notice in the case of mass layoffs or plant closings.
Students can apply to have their federal loans discharged, or forgiven, if they can prove that the school used illegal or deceptive tactics in violation of state law to persuade them to borrow money for college. Jasmine Nunez was also a student at the same location.
The college chain was under investigation for “questionable recruiting and accounting practices”.
“Some of those options might include prior learning assessments and certification crosswalks, which could allow students to earn credit for past experiences and credentials”, an Ivy Tech statement reads.
Brown was joined by Ted Mitchell, the Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education who helped outline steps ITT students can pursue. “There are a number of degree programs in business, criminal justice, technology and other areas where they can transfer seamlessly”.
It’s likely some students will want to transfer their ITT Tech credits to another institution and continue their education.
“All of us students have to find new places to go”.
The feds criticized ITT for taking billions of dollars in government grants and loans and not providing students with substantial training to land trade jobs after graduation.

In light of ITT’s announcement, Harrison is prepared to review the grade transcripts of current and former ITT students to explore any opportunities to transfer into a current Harrison program.
