A business analyst at ITT Educational Services Inc.’s Carmel headquarters and an instructor at two locations in California filed the complaint Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
Classes have started for everybody except ITT Tech’s 35,000 students, who were told yesterday that the educational service company would be shutting down all of its 130 campuses, including two in MA.
“I hope Ohio’s ITT students will look into this option and continue their education”.
The school was forced to shut down its campuses after the Department of Education issued sanctions, including a ban on enrolling new students who receive federal aid.
CBS2’s Vince Gerasole reports, the ITT campus in Arlington heights was locked up tight Tuesday, no one in the administrative offices, student lounges empty, but display monitors touting the school’s IT programs were still playing behind glass doors.
The agency also provided steps for ITT students upon closure of the school. SMC’s Mike O’Brian tells WSJM News the college is looking into whether any ITT Tech credits could be transferred to SMC. The department is also deciding whether to cut ties with the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, the group that accredited ITT and Corinthian. The institution is under multiple state and federal investigations. If students have additional questions, they can send an email to [email protected].
The company said its focus and priority will be using the remaining staff to help the tens of thousands of displaced students with their records and future educational options.
The students in Utah that were planning on attending ITT Tech will be getting into another college.
As of Tuesday, a notice on the company’s webpage said: “We are now not enrolling new students”.

Due to the closure, some ITT students are eligible for a full discharge, or a “Closed School Discharge”, of their federal student loans. Her student loans top $12,000. Alternatives that we strongly believe would have better served students, employees, and taxpayers were rejected.
